Phyto Scan

Photograph a leaf, and this log reads its pigment and pattern signature against common field symptoms — fungal, bacterial, viral, and nutritional.

  1. 01 Fill the frame with a single leaf, in even daylight.
  2. 02 Avoid harsh shadows or glare across the surface.
  3. 03 Include both healthy and affected areas if visible.

Field Notes — How This Reading Works

This tool does not run a trained neural network. It analyzes the photograph pixel by pixel — converting color to hue, saturation, and brightness, then grouping pixels into healthy green, chlorotic yellow, necrotic brown, blackened, and powdery-pale tissue. It also maps the size and number of discolored clusters: many small flecks read differently than a few large blotches.

That combination of color ratio and spot pattern is a real, longstanding technique in plant pathology image analysis — but it is a heuristic, not a clinical diagnosis. Lighting, soil staining, and overlapping symptoms can all skew a reading. For valuable crops or an uncertain case, confirm with a local agricultural extension office or plant pathologist before treating.
